- Monday, May 5th, 2008
Profanity written on a golf ball and left in a hole prompted a parking lot fight at Florida Club on Kanner Highway Friday evening, according to a report made available Monday.
The dispute was triggered when a twosome wanted to play through and pass a slower playing group of four golfers, according to the Martin sheriff's report.
The two men playing together were upset the larger group ignored them, so when they finally did pass them, Mark Thomas, 51, wrote a profanity on a golf ball and left it in the hole for the four to find, according to police.
Thomas told deputies the foursome was waiting in the parking lot when he and his friend finished their round. He said the four attacked him, leaving him with a split lip and a chipped tooth.
Three men in the foursome told deputies Thomas was the aggressor and their friend was defending himself.
There were no arrests Friday and Thomas refused medical attention.
